Many Celtic supporters have flocked to the latest tweet from the club that recently emerged on social media.
The club recently relayed a tweet from the account of the Scotland national team which revealed the nation’s squad for the upcoming international games against Austria, Israel and Faroe Islands.
The Hoops confirmed that Ryan Christie, Callum McGregor, Greg Taylor and Jack Hendry have been called up for Scotland, although the squad didn’t include David Turnbull.
Did Turnbull deserve a Scotland call-up?
Yes
No
The club’s tweet about this drew the attention of a lot of Celtic supporters, who made their views clear about it.
While Turnbull is yet to play for the Scotland senior national side, the midfielder has played five times for the country’s Under-21s side. He has scored one goal for them, which came against San Marino (as per Transfermarkt).
“Turnbull is a huge head scratcher? Why’s he not picked. Still believe Griffiths is the best finisher Scotland have. Surely Forrest once up to full fitness goes to the Euros?“
A lot of these Celtic fans are angry and disappointed at the fact that Turnbull didn’t get called up to the Scottish national team.
The 21-year-old has been a shining light for the Bhoys this season, scoring six goals and picking up five assists in the Premiership for the Hoops. He has grabbed a rating of 7.17/10 as well. Only six Celtic players have picked up better ratings than him (as per WhoScored).
Keeping his performances in mind, it is easy to see why Celtic fans wanted him to get called up. Having said that, the national team has established internationals such as John McGinn, McGregor, Stuart Armstrong and Scott McTominay already in midfield. So it is tough to see how Turnbull would’ve broken into the side.
