Lots of Celtic fans have been discussing a claim regarding David Wagner and the idea of him managing at Parkhead.

Danny Mills was recently talking to Football Insider about Wagner and he believes that the former Huddersfield Town boss would be a smarter appointment for Celtic than Paul Lambert.

Mills believes that the Hoops want a manager who is on the up and Wagner is someone who would want to come back to the UK and manage in the Premier League or the Football League. He feels that Wagner has the experience of transforming a football club despite a tight budget and he would ‘love’ to take the Celtic job.

Mills’ views about Wagner were relayed on Facebook by Celtic Insider and lots of Hoops fans made their views clear about the former Schalke boss.

What do Celtic fans think about David Wagner?

Wagner last managed Schalke in the Bundesliga and he managed the club from the summer of 2019 till September 2020. His points per match tally there stood at a disappointing 1.20.

At Huddersfield though, Wagner managed for around three and a half years. He had helped Huddersfield get promoted to the Premier League in 2017.

It has previously been reported by Football Insider that Wagner is keen on landing the Parkhead job and he would be interested in the opening, if the Hoops do approach him.

The majority of these Celtic fans don’t want Wagner to manage their club, with one fan pointing out that Sean Dyche will be his choice.

While Wagner hasn’t won a trophy in his career, the former Terriers boss’ system relies on pressing high up the pitch and moving the ball quickly. That might be an entertaining prospect for Celtic fans and considering how he helped Huddersfield to promotion, perhaps he could be a decent option for the Bhoys.
