Celtic fans have been reacting strongly to talk of interim manager John Kennedy getting the role on a permanent basis

The 37-year-old was Neil Lennon’s assistant at Parkhead before the Northern Irishman resigned from his position as manager of the reigning Scottish champions last week.

It was meant to be a historic season for the Glasgow giants, who were aiming to win their tenth league title in a row, but some disastrous performances have left the Hoops 18 points off the top.

A big rebuilding job is now needed at Celtic Park, and several big names have been linked with succeeding Lennon. However, one man who the supporters are not so keen on is Kennedy.

Former Aston Villa and Rangers defender Alan Hutton spoke exclusively to Football Insider, stating: “There’s talk of Kennedy getting the job. Personally, I’m not so sure,” a sentiment that many Celtic fans appear to agree with after his claim was shared on Facebook:

It’s been an extremely disappointing campaign for everyone involved with Celtic, and whoever the hierarchy decides to appoint next will have a big job on their hands. It may be too big of a task for the inexperienced and seemingly unpopular Kennedy.
