Celtic fans have been reacting on Twitter after it was reported that the appointment of Fergal Harkin as their new director of football is ’90 per cent complete.’

The Manchester City employee has been tipped to fill the vacancy at Celtic Park for some time now, but according to Football Insider, the deal is almost done for the 44-year-old to move north of the border.

It’s been a disastrous campaign for the Hoops, who saw their aspirations of winning 10 league titles in a row dashed in dramatic style by a rampant Rangers side.

The 20-point gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership table has led to the supporters calling for big changes within the Glasgow giants’ set up, and it appears as though they are happy with the latest developments.

“good get rid of Hammond”

@EddieHa35418086

“I hope this is true”

@Ryu369k

“Does this mean it’s Maresca for manager then???”

@IfYouKnowTheHi1

“one half of the dynamic duo done”

@AidoM67

“totally biased…but would be great to see a Donegal man in such position at the club…. that said, most important thing is that he knows his stuff and will be a success”

@POSearcaigh

“extremely good mate, we’re moving to a much more modern style of club now.”

@Arron2Smith

A big rebuilding job is going to have to be done at Parkhead over the summer with a new manager needed and several players expected to depart the Hoops, but having an experienced director of football guiding the process should make it a much easier transition.
