Lots of Celtic fans have been discussing a news update involving Jack Hendry that recently emerged on social media.

90Min has recently reported about Hendry’s situation, saying that Oostende have an option to sign the defender permanently for a fee of around £2m. When they exercise this option, they could make a quick profit off the Scotsman by selling him on for a fee around £10 million amid interest elsewhere.

Aston Villa are one of the clubs interested in the defender, with a host of Premier League clubs keeping tabs on Hendry.

What did Celtic fans make of the news about Hendry?

The report from 90Min has stated that there is a ‘big chance’ of Hendry heading to England in the summer, but the Scotsman hasn’t ruled out a potential Parkhead return. Not just that, but clubs in Germany and the Netherlands are also interested in the defender.

How much do you think members of the Bhoys' squad are worth according to Transfermarkt? Starting with an easy one how much do you think Odsonne Edouard is worth?

The defender was loaned out to Oostende in the summer and in Belgium, the 25-year-old has become a regular for the side. He has made 23 league appearances and he has found the back of the net twice, picking up one assist.

A lot of these Celtic fans would like to see Hendry get a chance in the club’s first-team, but one fan can’t believe the fact that Premier League clubs are interested in him. Hendry is currently valued at £900k.

Hendry has made only 27 appearances for Celtic and he didn’t play a single game in the 2019/20 Premiership campaign. That is perhaps a reflection of the fact that he wasn’t trusted, but he has been Oostende’s fourth-best rated player this term (as per WhoScored).

It perhaps shows that Hendry is getting better as a player. Considering that Shane Duffy’s loan stint ends in the summer, the Hoops may need another defender. So bringing Hendry back to replace Duffy may not be a bad idea for Celtic – if Oostende don’t get their way.
