Lots of Celtic supporters have been talking about the latest transfer news that has emerged on social media.
The official Celtic Twitter account recently relayed a tweet of a transfer update about Luca Connell and Ryan Mullen. It stated that both Connell and Mullen have now joined Scottish side Queen’s Park on loan deals until the end of the campaign.
Did Celtic mistreat Luca Connell?
Yes
No
This tweet from Celtic drew the attention of many Hoops fans, who made their views clear about the transfer news.
What do Celtic fans make of this transfer news?
“Another problem with the NL reign, never gave youngsters a chance. What on earth is going on at the academy too?“
“Good grief really! We bring in Luca Connell heralding him as a diamond and we punt him out to a bottom league amateur outfit. This is his loan level?“
“Good luck luca you’ve got a right good chance of making it at celtic, hopefully the new manager sees what the fans seen in your brief appearances , our club needs revamped from top to bottom. Too many lazy people at director level holding our club back.”
Mullen is also 19 and he is a product of the club’s youth academy. Like Connell, he is also yet to play for the club’s first team, while he has also played multiple times for the Hoops’ junior sides in the past (as per Transfermarkt).
“Luca wasted away under Lennon. Hope he gets a run. We also might need ye next season Ryan so good luck.”
“Another promising youngster in Luca Connell leaving the Hoops without getting much if a chance . The youth policy at Celtic is nothing short of a disgrace.”
A lot of these Celtic supporters are fuming at the news and some feel that the club hasn’t handled Connell well enough.
Connell can play at left-back and before Diego Laxalt arrived at Parkhead, Celtic only had Greg Taylor as a left-back option. Instead of allowing Connell some game time when there was space in the team, they decided to sign a player on a temporary basis.
If they had allowed Connell some game time, it could’ve helped the youngster’s development. So it is easy to see why Celtic fans aren’t happy with how the club has treated Connell.
