A Celtic State of Mind contributor Amy Canavan has been speaking on the latest edition of the podcast about all things relating to Celtic.

How much do you think members of the Bhoys' squad are worth according to Transfermarkt? Starting with an easy one how much do you think Odsonne Edouard is worth?

One of the topics that she spent a little bit of time on was the vacant Celtic managerial position.

Red Bull Salzburg manager Jesse Marsch has recently claimed that it was an honour to be linked with the Celtic job, and Canavan expressed her view on the situation.

She said: “I think initially you go, ‘Wow, that’s a name that I can get on board with.’

“This is definitely one here that I would go, ‘Yep, I would take him’. I think it is probably a little bit hopeful.

“I think when you break it down, and I’ve really tried to break it down and look at what’s going on, especially in German football.

“Right now, yes, it is exciting and that name can kick about.”

Do you think Marsch is the man for Celtic?

No, we can do better

No, we can do better

Yes, he could be what we need

TIF Thoughts on Marsch…

The fact that he said it was an honour to be linked with the job indicates that he would be keen on replacing Neil Lennon.

However, considering he has only ever managed in the Austrian Bundesliga and MLS, does he have the credentials to step up?

It remains to be seen, but he does have experience of managing in Europe with Salzburg, and has won just three of the 12 Champions League group stage games he has managed and none of the Europa League games he has managed.

So, he has a decent record in making it to the group stages in the Champions League (while Celtic have struggled to even get that far recently) and is clearly flattered to be linked with the job, so there are some good points, and we would be intrigued if the Bhoys did make a move for Marsch.
