Speaking on the latest episode of The 2 Robbies podcast, Robbie Mustoe revealed how he believes West Ham’s Declan Rice would be an ideal signing for Manchester United.

The 22-year-old midfielder has impressed for the Hammers this season, recording a very respectable 7.02 WhoScored rating after starting 28 Premier League games for the capital club in 2020/21.

Rice’s mature and solid displays have seen the England international linked with big-money moves away from the London Stadium outfit, and Mustoe believes Old Trafford would be the perfect destination.

He was unable to prevent David Moyes’ men from falling to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Red Devils over the weekend, but Mustoe has seen enough to convince him that he’d make an instant impact in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer side.

He said: “I can’t think of a more ideal signing for Manchester United than Declan Rice – in any area. You talked about drive, and what he can bring Man United – he would be perfect in a position that they need, there’s four positions, centre-midfield is one position. Declan Rice, for me, would tick all the boxes for what that club needs in that role.”

TIF Thoughts on Rice…

The combative midfielder has played a pivotal part in West Ham’s push for continental football this season, playing every minute of the campaign so far.

United’s midfield has been an area that many supporters have called for reinforcements in over the last couple of seasons, and Rice could potentially fill that void.

The step-up from the Hammers to Solskjaer’s side would be big but we think Rice would be more than capable, and Ole should definitely consider making a move in the near future.
