On the latest instalment of The West Ham Way podcast, ExWHUemployee revealed that Felipe Anderson is set to depart West Ham United over the summer.

The 27-year-old winger joined the Hammers in a £36m move from Italian outfit Lazio back in 2018 and impressed throughout his first season with the club, bagging 10 goals and providing five assists in all competitions.

However, Anderson’s form dropped off massively in 2019/20 as David Moyes came in to replace Manuel Pellegrini at the London Stadium, resulting in the South American’s departure at the end of the campaign.

Portuguese giants Porto came calling for Anderson’s services last year, taking the Brazilian on a season-long loan, but after failing to impress during his time at the Estadio do Dragao, ExWHUemployee has claimed Moyes’ men are looked to offload him in the upcoming window.

He said: “Anderson, I don’t know if you’ve seen, but he’s really struggling at Porto, he’s only made four starts for them. Already the club are trying to pimp him out to certain clubs for next season, trying to get him a loan move or a permanent move out of the club. He doesn’t seem to have a future with us anymore.”

TIF Thoughts on Anderson…

Anderson’s struggles over the last two seasons have seen his market value plummet from £40.5m as recently as December 2019 down to £13.5m at the time of writing (as per Transfermarkt).

Combine this with the fact that the pacey is set to enter the final 12 months of his West Ham contract over the summer, and the capital club’s chances of recuperating a figure anywhere near the one they signed Anderson for is virtually non-existent.

Therefore, the Hammers are going to have to be satisfied with getting his £85,000-per-week wages off the wage bill and look to reinvest any funds they do acquire in more sensible acquisitions.
