A report in Italian newspaper La Nazione (via Sport Witness), has linked Spurs to the highly-rated 21-year-old, as the North London outfit continues to search for a suitable back-up to Harry Kane.
Jose Mourinho’s side are set to face fierce competition for Vlahovic’s signature this summer according to the report, as Roma would like to keep the player in Italy, and Borussia Dortmund are keen to bring him to the Bundesliga.
The Partizan Belgrade academy graduate is valued at around £26m (as per the Football Observatory), and Tottenham would apparently be prepared to pay over double that figure – something the Spurs fans aren’t happy about.
“Rather spend it on a defender”
“50-60mil for a bottom half Serie A striker, and we thought 40m for Vinicius was too much”
“A 50mil striker? Why?”
“Danny Ings is literally the perfect back up for us. Why spend nonsense money on the new Rebrov to sit on the bench behind Kane?”
“Why 60 mil for a backup striker?!”
Spending such a large figure for a player who is likely to spend a large amount of time on the bench is always going to upset large sections of the supporters, especially in this current financial climate, but Vlahovic is a hugely talent striker with bags of potential, so the Spurs fans shouldn’t get too dismayed if this does come to fruition.
