The Aston Villa captain has been absent for the Midlands side’s last four Premier League fixtures after picking up a shin injury and is expected to out for their Friday night clash with Newcastle.
Grealish has been instrumental to Villa’s success this season, scoring six goals and providing an incredible 12 assists for his teammates throughout the current campaign.
In the 25-year old’s absence, Villa have only scored twice and failed to find the back of the net in their last two outings. Speaking in a recent press conference (via Sky Sports), Smith said: “He has been ill this week, so he’s been off for a couple of days as well, but we’re hopeful for the Tottenham game now, that’s for sure,” and the news hasn’t gone down too well with Spurs supporters.
“Grealish vs Doherty scares me… Then again so does Grealish vs Aurier”
“Of course, it’s always when teams play us”
“Of course he does”
“*pretends to be shocked*”
“Everybody comes back for Tottenham”
Grealish is Villa’s talisman, so it’s no wonder these Tottenham fans are dismayed at his return for their upcoming encounter.
