Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been reacting to a post on the club’s official Twitter account after they posted some pictures of  Steven Bergwijn taking part in training while on international duty.

The Dutchman was selected by Frank de Boer to face Turkey, Latvia and Gibraltar in the Oranje’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Time away from the north London outfit may be a welcomed break for Bergwijn, who has been struggling for form in recent weeks and hasn’t started a Premier League fixture since Spurs lost 1-0 against Chelsea in early February.

Jose Mourinho’s men are currently sitting in sixth position in the top-flight table, three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea in the fight for Champions League qualification, but it doesn’t seem as though the Spurs supporters are holding out much hope that 23-year-old can help them close the gap.

“No end product”

@xthfcsaam

“Leave him there”

@Musti186et

“Stay there. Don’t need such garbage players back”

@Rajakha10950674

“Any chance he could stay”

@lmackelden

“Leave him there. No end product, isn’t good enough for a team that wants to compete for trophies. Which is probably why he signed for us I guess…”

@GarethWspurs

“How he’s got a call-up still is beyond me lol”

@Marcel64935358

“How is he getting picked?”

@DanielTopping7

The former PSV Eindhoven man made a blistering start to his Spurs career, scoring an incredible goal on his debut, however, his career has stagnated since then, and he’ll perhaps be hoping to rediscover his scoring touch against the likes of Latvia and Gibraltar.
