The north London outfit have one of the better defensive records in the Premier League this season, but some unconvincing performances from several members of their defensive unit led to speculation that Jose Mourinho was set to add reinforcements in January.
Henderson impressed throughout a season-long loan at Sheffield United in 2019/20 before moving back to Old Trafford at the end of the campaign. This time around, though, he has largely played second fiddle to David de Gea, starting just four top-flight fixtures.
That has led to suggestions that the England international could be set to depart the Red Devils in the coming months, with Duncan Castles confirming on The Transfer Window podcast that Mourinho’s men are interested in the 23-year-old shot-stopper – something the Tottenham fans were clearly excited by.
“I’d snap their hand off if we got a chance at Henderson. Perfect Lloris replacement”
“Young and homegrown. Would be expensive, but perfect!”
“Would be perfect, young and homegrown. ‘Keeper situation would sorted for now and the future”
“On my knees”
“If Lloris was to leave, him or Pope would be perfect this summer”
“We have to get him in. He’d be perfect.”
“If we sell Lloris then yes.”
Henderson is one of England’s most promising young goalkeepers, and he could be an ideal successor to Lloris for many years to come.
