Rob Lee has revealed he doesn’t believe Southampton centre-back Jannik Vestergaard is the answer to Tottenham Hotspur’ defensive issues.

Despite Jose Mourinho’s men having the joint-third best defensive record in the this season, many have questioned the solidity of the north outfit’s back four.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss has tried several combinations in the heart of the Spurs this season, but with little luck as the likes of Eric Dier and Matt Doherty have come under constant scrutiny.

According to The Mirror, the Portuguese manager is preparing a move for Denmark international Vestergaard this summer in order to solve Tottenham’s shaky defence.

However, in an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, Lee disclosed his feelings towards the 28-year-old, suggesting he is far from a top-class operator.

Vestergaard may not be on the same level as Virgil van Dijk, but Spurs fans are likely to be satisfied with a more reliable and consistent performer in the heart of defence.
