Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been reacting on Twitter to the news that Real Madrid have decided not to activate Sergio Reguilon’s buy-back clause in the upcoming transfer window.

The 24-year-old has been in excellent form for Spurs since arriving last summer in a £32m deal. The Spain international has made 26 appearances for Jose Mourinho’s men in all competitions this season, quickly establishing himself as a fans favourite.

When Los Blancos sanctioned Reguilon’s sale, though, the Madrid hierarchy included a clause that allows the reigning La Liga champions to bring the defender back to the Bernabeu for £45m in the summer of 2021 or 2022.

However, according to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real have decided not to exercise the option this year and are focusing on bringing Bayern Munich man David Alaba to the club instead, news that’s gone down very well with the Spurs fans.

The left-back has been a brilliant addition to the Spurs backline, and having confirmation that they are hanging onto him for at least another season is great news for the club.
