Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been reacting on Twitter to the news that Jose Mourinho’s contract reportedly has a break clause that comes into play this summer.

The former Real Madrid, Inter and Manchester United boss has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks after back-to-back defeats against Arsenal in the North London derby and then Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League but serious dents in the club’s Champions League aspirations.

Qualifying for the next edition of Europe’s elite cup competition was a priority for the capital club at the start of the current campaign, but things have not gone to plan for Mourinho’s men.

After that 2-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium last weekend, Spurs sit in eighth position in the Premier League standings, six points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, albeit with a game in hand over the Blues.

After crashing out of the Europa League in midweek, thanks to a Mislav Orsic hat-trick, Mourinho’s future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has come under question, and on the latest episode of the Transfer Window podcast, Duncan Castles revealed the Portuguese boss has a clause in his contract allowing Spurs to sack him at a reduced cost this summer.

When Hotspur Related relayed this news online, the Spurs fans made their feelings towards the 58-year-old known.

“Then bring in Nagelsmann and start the rebuild we’ve needed since Poch got us to the CL final”

@musa_v2

“If true – best news of the year…”

@DM_75

“Brilliant! It will be too late to convince the likes of Kane and son to stay! I suspect Bale will return to Madrid and be sold to someone like inter Miami, Lloris and Alli will be off to PSG and we will be left with what no one else wants!”

@tombs_rob

“LET’S GOOOO!!”

@ThadCollins

“When does the season finish? Need a celebration the day after”

@J_Nicholson85

“Unfortunately, they’re gonna have to do it earlier than that. Man’s lost the dressing room.”

@JudgeSpurs

“We can’t wait that long”

@ShaolinTurbo

Mourinho has been a divisive character at almost every club he has managed throughout his career, and it appears a large section of Spurs supporters have already turned against him.
