Barry Fry speaking to Football FanCast about Ralph Hasenhuttl, revealed that he would like to see Eddie Howe as Southampton’s next boss whenever the Austrian moves on.

Nice easy one to start off with, who currently sits top of the table?

Hasenhuttl has transformed the Saints, and for a point this season, they were top of the league, but they have faded away as the campaign has gone on – although they are through to an FA Cup semi-final, where they will play Leicester City.

However, Fry, Peterborough United’s director of football, thinks that when Hasenhuttl leaves, the Saints should go for Howe.

He said: “Eddie Howe would be a brilliant option.

“He lives in the area, and he does what Southampton love. He develops young players in his teams. He’s another one that’s worked a miracle at Bournemouth, getting them in the Premier League, retaining their Premier League status for so many years on a shoestring budget at a ground that holds 12,000 people.”

Do you think Howe would be a good replacement for Hasenhuttl?

TIF Thoughts on Howe…

Howe left Bournemouth last summer and has been out of a job since, though he has been linked to Celtic and Newcastle United.

However, as of yet, he hasn’t been snapped up, and given what he achieved with the Cherries, we think that he could be the ideal replacement for Hasenhuttl.

However, we hope that the Austrian stays with Southampton a while longer as he is clearly building something special on the south coast.

When it comes to making the change, though, then we agree with Fry and would like to see Howe given the Southampton job, unless he has been picked up by someone else, of course.
