Eurosport journalist Dean Jones has been speaking on the Touchline Talk podcast this week discussing all things transfer-related with the summer transfer window only a few months away

Jones was speaking about top-four hopefuls Chelsea and he believes there will be big changes made this summer with new manager Thomas Tuchel now in charge.

Tammy Abraham’s future has been questioned by Jones, who believes the English striker could be heading for the exit this summer – with a number of Premier League clubs reported to be showing interest – including Southampton, according to Eurosport.

The 23-year-old is Chelsea’s top scorer in the league with six goals this season, however, the striker has only played 123 minutes since Tuchel took charge of the Blues in January.

As a result of his lack of game time, Jones believes he may look to play his football elsewhere next season, but feels Southampton would be a step down for the striker:

“I think it’s up to him, really, how this can figure out. I think also Tammy has to decide what he wants from his career right now and where he wants it to be heading,” Jones said.

“Does he want to be a player that can challenge at Chelsea, try and get games where he can and be part of a team that is got big, big ambitions? Or does he want to go to that tier down?

“I know that sounds strange right now when you look at the league table because West Ham are right up there with Chelsea, but ultimately, it will be viewed as West Ham being a bit of a step down for him. Southampton definitely would be as well.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ Abraham comments…

Since Tuchel has arrived, it seems the German is still trying to work out his best starting XI. Abraham was not included in the Chelsea side which beat Liverpool on Thursday night despite being fit and able to play.

Abraham should perhaps look at the likes of Jesse Lingard who has had a brilliant start to life in London after leaving Manchester United for West Ham on loan in January – but Abraham will be one to keep an eye on this summer for sure.
