One of the topics that The Shields Gazette reporter spent some time on was Miguel Almiron’s injury amid reports that he is already closing in on a return to full fitness.

The 27-year-old injured his knee against Wolverhampton Wanderers and was initially ruled out until April, but it looks like the Paraguayan could be involved against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Kennedy said: “I understand that Miguel Almiron’s got a very, very good chance of being involved in the team on Saturday.

“If there’s half a chance that they think they’ll get an hour out of Almiron, which I think they’re erring towards, he may well be in the team, not just on the bench.”

Will Almiron's return make a difference?

TIF Thoughts on Almiron…

Almiron is the Toon’s second-top goalscorer, and they have only won one of the four league games in which he hasn’t played some part, so having him back would be a huge boost.

The fact that he could even start is even better news, so hopefully, Kennedy is right and Almiron is fit and ready to contribute against the Seagulls.

The Paraguay international has scored three goals in 2021, and you would think that if he were available to Newcastle, they would pose more of a goal threat than without him.

However, it remains to be seen if Kennedy is right about Almiron or not, but certainly, the signs are looking good for the midfielder to be involved against Brighton on Saturday.
