Against Brighton, it was Yves Bissouma who had inflicted the injury upon Hayden, even though the action was not deliberate from the Seagulls midfielder.

After the game, Steve Bruce revealed that Hayden had sustained a knee injury and it wasn’t looking good for him. The midfielder later tweeted about the injury, saying how ‘gutted’ he was and that he will do his utmost to return soon.

“Hope he gets sorted properly. The guy for me is our most important player. It sounds brutal but it’s likely this injury will keep him at the club next season and he will dominate the Championship midfield. He’s so underrated it’s criminal”

A lot of Newcastle fans are disappointed about Hayden’s injury and they believe that this is a blow to the team. The Magpies already have Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin and Fabian Schar out due to injury.

On top of that, only eight Newcastle players have picked up a better rating than Hayden in the current campaign. Their form has been poor in recent weeks and they’re edging closer to the relegation zone. So losing Hayden for the rest of the season might just be a significant blow to their survival in the Premier League.
