Fans of Newcastle United have taken to Twitter to slam Ryan Fraser for his performance in their 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on Friday night.

Newcastle moved two points clear of 18th-placed Fulham, however, Steve Bruce’s side have now played an extra game than 17th-placed Brighton & Hove Albion (via Premier League).

Dean Smith’s side had only won one of their last five games in the league leading up to the game at St. James’ Park and they came within seconds of three points but for a Jamaal Lascelles equaliser in stoppage time.

Fraser received just a 6.44/10 rating from WhoScored and it is apparent the Toon Army were far from impressed by the 27-year-old’s display.

“Fraser has been dreadful.”

@RilwanLucas

“When the chips are down, Fraser is awful. Murphy has to start against Brighton #nufc

@MrMMYassin

“Ryan Fraser has been such a disappointment this season. He’s not at the races.”

@MaintainSJP

“Ryan Fraser is an experiment to see how far Newcastle United can push me.”

@Callum0996

“Fraser has been a poor signing for me all huff and puff and a one-trick pony.”

@ToonDen

“Murphy did more in that last 11 minutes than Fraser has done in the last 2 games. Bruce should have brought him and Carroll on a long time before he did #nufc

Will NUFC survive the drop?

Fraser was signed by Newcastle last summer from Bournemouth on a free transfer but it seems some Newcastle fans were left dispirited by his display against Villa and are perhaps regretting his arrival, considering where the club find themselves in the table.
