A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from Keith Downie in which he has relayed news on Miguel Almiron ahead of the Toon’s clash against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
Downie’s tweet states that the 27-year-old has recovered quicker than expected and has a “chance” of being involved and trained for the first time on Thursday.
This has drawn in these Toon fans, who fear that Bruce has brought Almiron back too early.
“Would be typical of Bruce to bring him back early and he gets injured again and out for season”
“Only if he’s fit enough. Bruce may be desperate but need to make sure they’re fit enough”
“If he has only trained once then he shouldn’t be anywhere near the squad for tomorrow.”
Do you think Almiron will be involved against Brighton?
Yes
No
Considering Almiron was expected to be out until April, this has been a remarkably quick recovery from the Paraguayan, and given that he is Newcastle’s second-top goalscorer, you would have to hope that he is available.
There have been suggestions this week that he would be involved, but it seems those expectations have been slightly tempered.
This post continued to draw in Newcastle fans who had their say.
Yesterday wasn’t the first time he trained btw. He’s been in full contact training all week. Misinformation from Bruce and @NUFC
“Place on the bench at best”
“Start him!!!”
It remains to be seen what happens with Almiron, but it looks like he has a chance of being involved against the Seagulls as the Toon look to move away from the relegation zone, which can only be good news.
