A lot of Newcastle United have taken to Twitter to react to a tweet from midfielder Isaac Hayden reminiscing on their dramatic 3-2 victory over Everton in 2019.
The Magpies found themselves 2-0 down at half-time, however, a stunning late comeback saw Rafa Benitez’s side clinch all three points at St. James’ Park.
However, not too many United fans were able to share Hayden’s positivity looking back on the game as they compared it to their decline since.
Newcastle find themselves in the thick of a relegation battle with Fulham and Brighton as the Magpies sit in 16th place and are just one point ahead of 18th-placed Fulham.
An uninspiring 0-0 draw against West Brom on Sunday has left some fans furious and it is clear to see from their replies to Hayden’s tweet:
“Embarrassing how far we’ve fallen in 2 years. I wonder what happened? Any ideas, Isaac?”
Will NUFC survive the drop?
Yes
No
The frustration of the Newcastle fans is clear to see and Sunday’s bore-draw with West Brom will not have helped Steve Bruce’s case after what proved a difficult week for the football club.
