A lot of Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to voice their excitement following a tweet from the official club account showing the return of two of their stars from injury.
The image tweeted out by the club showed Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson both training following their recent injuries which have had both players out since February.
Wilson suffered a hamstring injury in the Toon’s 3-2 win over Southampton at the beginning of February after just 36 minutes of the game.
Saint-Maximin was ruled out until April after he picked up a groin injury in their 1-1 draw at home to Wolves earlier this month, having only just returned to training in January.
Following the tweet, the Toon Army flocked in their droves to show their excitement at seeing the duo back on the field.
“We shouldn’t have to pin our survival on three players playing well but unfortunately that’s what our club has become”
Can NUFC survive the drop this season?
Yes
No
Newcastle fans will be pleased to see Wilson back, in particular, with the summer signing having scored 10 goals in the Premier League this season in his 21 appearances (via Transfermarkt).
The timing of their returns could not be better for Newcastle, with the Tyneside club sitting just two points above 18th-placed Fulham with only nine games to go until the end of the season (via Premier League).
All in all, it is evident to see Newcastle fans have some hope their club is able to escape the relegation battle with Wilson and Saint-Maximin set to return from their respective injuries.
