Newcastle United fans have been reacting to comments made by club legend Alan Shearer following their draw against Wolves.

It was a very important game for Newcastle United &8211; given their proximity to the bottom of the table, every point is needed to ensure their safety, and whilst they managed to grab a point, all three points would obviously have been a lot better.

One of the key incidents in the game came when, with the scores level at 1-1, forward Joelinton failed to put away a chance in the area, with Romain Saiss clearing the ball off the line. And whilst he managed to get the effort on target, speaking on Premier League Productions (as per Chronicle Live), Shearer claimed that Joelinton, valued at £18m on Transfermarkt, could have done better, calling the effort “a sitter”

His comments were relayed to supporters via the @ChronicleNUFC Twitter page, where there was a raft of Newcastle United fans that agreed with him:

“Can’t disagree with Alan like”

“Bang on !!!! Joelinton had decent hold-up game but tends to panic in front of goal.”
“Low and hard in the corner and it’s a goal. Wilson scores it.”
“God has spoken! He should’ve put it away. Done.”
“If big al says it’s a sitter then it’s a sitter”

Do Newcastle need to cut their losses on Joelinton?

No, he's not that bad

No, he's not that bad

Yes, he needs to go

Yes, he needs to go

You could say that when you put away as many goals as Shearer did during his time, you do get some kind of authority on what chances should be taken.
