Newcastle United supporters have been reacting to a video posted on the club’s official Twitter account where Callum Wilson gave an interview on his return to training.

The 29-year-old striker has been one of few shining lights for the Magpies this season, bagging 10 Premier League goals in 21 appearances, although they have not been enough to fire the St. James’ Park outfit towards safety.

Steve Bruce’s men continue to hover just above the relegation zone and are only two points above 18th-placed Fulham heading into their relegation six-pointer with Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.

Wilson has been absent from Newcastle’s last five matchday squads after injuring his hamstring in the 3-2 victory over Southampton at the start of February, and his return to light training has clearly got the fans excited.

“It would be one of the biggest ever letdowns if we got relegated, Wilson left and no fans actually got to see him score at the Gallowgate. The bloke is class. The club get millions of things wrong. But signing Wilson ain’t one of them.”

“Hope he can save us despite the best efforts of our atrocious manager to take us down.”

@agbnufc_

“Pure class”

“Elite mentality”

“My starboy”

“Yesssiriuiuurrrrr LETS GOOO”

Saturday’s game on the south coast is likely to come too soon for the former Bournemouth man, but the upcoming international break should hopefully give Wilson enough time to properly recover and play a key part in Newcastle’s fight to avoid the drop.
