Lots of Newcastle United fans have been fuming at Micah Richards’ comments about Steve Bruce.

Richards was recently talking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s ‘Monday Night Club’ podcast (via the Chronicle) about the situation at Newcastle United, comparing their situation to Liverpool’s because both clubs have been troubled by injuries.

Former defender Richards believes that it is ‘horrendous’ for Newcastle to be in this situation because of the injury troubles, though he isn’t making any excuses for Bruce at all. He said that if Newcastle had their injured players fit, he would’ve had a more accurate assessment of things.

Do you think it is fair to judge Bruce when so many players are injured?

A tweet about this was relayed on Twitter by the Chronicle. Many Newcastle fans made their views clear about Richards’ comments.

What did NUFC fans make of Richards’ comments?

“They certainly don’t help, however an excuse, not for me as every side has them at some point during a season. Not using all of available squad members is a more worrying concern. That is decision taken by manager and buck stops with him.

As things stand, Newcastle are without Callum Wilson and the Englishman is expected to be out until next month. Fabian Schar is out injured and so is Allan Saint-Maximin (as per Transfermarkt).

Test your knowledge of these Newcastle players' market values! How much do you think Miguel Almiron is worth?

Isaac Hayden also sustained what is thought to be a season-ending injury.

“Richards – clueless.”

Despite multiple injuries in the side, these Newcastle fans don’t agree that injuries have had an impact on their overall performances.

As mentioned before, there are multiple injuries issues for the side, but it isn’t like their form was much better earlier in the season. They’ve won two consecutive Premier League games just once in the whole campaign and since 12th December, they’ve won only two Premier League matches.

So clearly, their fortunes were not much brighter when more players were fit and it is easy to see why Newcastle fans aren’t happy.
