Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been sharing their criticism for Toon midfielder Jonjo Shelvey and his latest display for the club during their Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.

After securing a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa at St. James’ Park thanks to a late goal from Jamaal Lascelles in their previous league fixture, the Tyneside club took the trip to Brighton in their latest search for three points.

Test your knowledge of these Newcastle players' market values! How much do you think Miguel Almiron is worth?

However, during the game against Graham Potter’s side, Shelvey’s performance, in particular, caught the attention of a lot of Toon fans, but for all the wrong reasons.

So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say about Shelvey’s display against Brighton?

“Jonjo Shelvey is definitely Lee Charnleys secret son. How he gets in the XI week in week out out is scary. #nufc

@IJM9694

Jonjo shelvey is just as bad as Bruce Both stealing a living from @NUFC

@NormanDempsey5

“Get rid at shelvey, he’s useless”

@brettoddy

“In a crowded field, Shelvey is the worst player in our whole squad”

@GibboAndy

Shelvey just standing with his hands on his knees. Sums it up. Bloke is an embarrassment. #NUFC

@MKell07

Btw, Shelvey is absolutely horrendous. #NUFC I generally don’t think he would be a stand out in league 1.”

@GaryFrazz1

Newcastle signed Shelvey back in the 2016 January transfer window from Championship club Swansea City for a fee of £14.4 million.

Looking at these tweets from this group of Newcastle supporters, it’s clear to see that they were not impressed by Shelvey and his performance against the Seagulls.

Moving forward, the 29-year-old and everyone else at the club will be hoping that he can move on from this match and focus on improving his game or else he could find himself out of the team for the remainder of the season, which could end with the club losing their place in the league.
