Speaking exclusively to GiveMeSport, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to bring Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland to Old Trafford this summer.

Haaland, who is rated at up to €200m (£170m) by CIES, has been in excellent form this season, scoring 21 goals in the Bundesliga and 10 goals in the Champions League so far.

As a result, the 20-year-old is now being linked with a big-money move in the upcoming transfer window, with a host of European giants all said to be interested in his services. And, according to Romano, Manchester United could be one club firmly in the running.

Do you think Manchester United will sign Haaland?

No, we won't get him

Yes, we could

Yes, we could

In an exclusive interview, the journalist told GMS:

“Let’s see what happens with Manchester United. For sure, Solskjaer wants him, but it’s not easy to sign him this summer because the release clause is valid from the next one, so you have to deal with Borussia Dortmund and to negotiate with Borussia Dortmund won’t be easy.”

Haaland’s release clause, set at €75m (£64m), becomes active in the summer of 2022 and could spark a real transfer scramble if the Norway international does not leave Dortmund before then.

Next up for Haaland and Dortmund is Eintracht Frankfurt before they take on Manchester United’s rivals Manchester City in the Champions League.
