Journalist Dean Jones has featured on the latest edition of the Touchline Talk to discuss all things Premier League transfers related.

Jones was asked about potential incomings at Old Trafford this summer and the journalist mentioned a potential outgoing to make room for a new forward this summer.

Anthony Martial’s future at Manchester United has been questioned by Jones six years on from United signing the Frenchman from Monaco for £55m.

The 25-year-old has played 167 times for the Red Devils in the Premier League alone and has found the back of the net 55 times in the competition (via Transfermarkt).

However, Jones had this to say about Martial’s time with United possibly coming to an end this summer.

He said: “I don’t think Anthony Martial is that person, even when he does have good games, he still misses big chances, hasn’t become the clinical number nine that you thought you were going to be getting there.

“And I think that they’re definitely considering selling him if a good offer was to come in.”

Does Martial have a future at Man Utd?

Martial has been linked with a move to the Serie A leaders Inter this summer with the Italian giants said to be interested in potentially signing a fourth player from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since taking the reins at United.

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

Martial, who is valued at £45m (as per Transfermarkt), has only been included in the starting XI 59% of the time this season for United in the league, and with the likes of Inter said to be interested, he may favour a move this summer to get more first-team action.

United have also been tentatively linked with out-and-out striker Erling Haaland ahead of this summer to provide them with a dominant focal point after the departure of Romelu Lukaku in 2019.
