Nice easy one to start off with, who currently sits top of the table?

On the subject of Aguero and his current situation at the club with his contract set to run out at the end of June, Smith had this to say on the matter. (30.17) (32.09)

He said: “Well, as it stands, yeah, he’s leaving at the end of the season and [there are] no contract talks going on.

“It’s just a frustrating time for Aguero because he needs to be on the pitch to get back to full fitness. He has to be at full fitness to get goals and he needs to get goals to win a new contract so, a big couple of months coming up for him.

“He’s not finished at City as it stands, there is a chance that he can sign a new deal, but he needs to prove himself.”

City signed Aguero back in the 2011 summer transfer window from Spanish club Atletico Madrid for a fee of £36 million. Since his arrival at the Etihad Stadium, the 32-year-old, who is currently valued at £22.5 million, has gone on to make 384 appearances for the club in which he has scored 257 goals and provided 73 assists along the way, making him City’s all-time record goalscorer.

TIF Thoughts on Jonathan Smith’s comments on Aguero and his future with City…

Given how many goals the Argentine has scored for City and the number of titles he has won, there’s no doubt that he has been an integral part of the club’s success since in recent years.

Do you think Aguero will be at City next season?

No

However, in terms of his future with the club, the fact that he has only made 14 appearances for City across all competitions so far this season after struggling with illness and injury, scoring just three goals in the process, perhaps it would be the right time to allow him to leave when his current contract runs out.
