Fabrizio Romano has spoken on the latest episode of the Here We Go podcast regarding all things transfer-related as we near the summer window

The Italian journalist had been speaking about potential incomings and outgoings for Liverpool this summer and insisted the club is hoping they can secure midfielder Fabinho to a new contract.

Fabinho signed for the Reds from Monaco in 2018 for a fee believed to be in the region of £40m and has since gone on to make 77 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the Premier League (via Transfermarkt).

Speaking about the Brazilian midfielder’s future at Anfield, Romano had this to say on the matter.

He said: “Their priority looking at the transfer window will be again on extending contracts.

“Because as we always say, Van Dijk is one of the topics but Fabinho – keep an eye on Fabinho, because Liverpool are pushing, they want to make a proposal to Fabinho. they are so, so happy with him. Jurgen Klopp is in love with Fabinho so they are working to extend this contract and Fabinho is happy at Liverpool, so positive feelings also on this side.”

Should Liverpool extend Fabinho's deal?

The Brazilian has made 15 of his appearances in the league this season at centre-back as a result of the long list of injuries suffered by the Reds in defence this season.

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

Fabinho still has two years left on his deal with Liverpool, however, Romano believes Klopp is hoping to tie the 27-year-old down, which could be an indicator that the German manager has no desire to leave Liverpool any time soon despite the rumours which were floating about just a few weeks ago.
