Liverpool podcaster Tommy Lister has been sharing his thoughts on Olympique Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar and a potential move to the Merseyside club for the Frenchman.

This comes after Lister recently co-hosted the latest episode of the LFC Transfer Room Podcast where he spoke about a number of topics concerning Jurgen Klopp’s side.

First up in this Mo Salah quiz, what is his current squad number for Liverpool?

On the subject of Aouar, who has been linked with a move to Anfield in the past, and a potential transfer move for him during the upcoming summer transfer window, Lister had this to say on the matter.

He said: “I think Aouar would be absolutely perfect as a [Georginio] Wijnaldum replacement.

“He’s young, he’s the perfect age that FSG or Klopp or whoever it is, the transfer team, look at when bringing in new players.

“He’s going to be breaking up in towards his prime, he’s got time on his side. Unbelievable dribbler, passer, quality player.”

As a product of Lyon’s youth system, Aouar made his senior debut for the club back in February 2017 in a Europa League game against AZ Alkmaar.

Since then, the 22-year-old, who is currently valued at £45 million, has made 162 appearances for the French club, scoring 30 goals and providing 31 assists in the process (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Tommy Lister’s comments on a potential move for Aouar…

So far this season in Ligue 1, Aouar has made 23 league appearances for Lyon in which he has managed to score five goals and provide three assists along the way, earning himself an overall season rating of 6.88/10 for his performances in the process.

Given how Aouar has been one of Lyon’s most impactful players in an attacking sense this season, having racked up an average of 2.5 shots per goal and 1.4 key passes per game (per WhoScored), and the fact that Klopp has recently shared his concern over his side’s lack of goals in recent weeks, perhaps a move for Aouar in the summer could be just what they need to reignite their attacking power.
