On the latest episode of Touchline Talk, Eurosport journalist Dean Jones has been talking about Liverpool’s recent struggles in the Premier League

Jurgen Klopp’s side lost their sixth consecutive home game in the league on the weekend as strugglers Fulham prevailed in a 1-0 defeat for the Reds.

And despite progressing to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating RB Leipzig over two legs, there has been speculation over the future of some of Liverpool’s star players in recent weeks and months.

Speaking on the topic, Jones had this to say on the future of some of Liverpool’s players’ futures.

He said: “[Klopp] will be confident that once Van Dijk’s back, once Henderson’s back, once his team’s settled again next season, they’ll have a chance.

“I think there’s also a possibility that this team falls apart further over the summer and you know – if Wijnaldum leaves, Mo Salah seems to be pushing for a move, it’s not really a rosy place right now and all those good vibes have gone.”

Will Salah leave Liverpool this summer?

The future of Klopp has also been questioned in recent months with the 53-year-old tipped for the German national team job in what is going to make for an interesting summer at Anfield.

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

There have been rumours surrounding the future of Mohamed Salah and Georginio Wijnaldum for a few months now, so you can see where Jones is coming from, and given the success that these players have enjoyed during their Liverpool careers, you would imagine it is far from a given that Liverpool will continue to be in contention for trophies once they eventually depart – whether that be this summer or in the future.

What seems clear is that while speculation persists, uncertainty will reign at Anfield until matters are resolved one way or the other – unless, perhaps, their achievements on the pitch can silence the whispers behind the scenes.
