Eurosport journalist Dean Jones has been speaking on the latest episode of Touchline Talk about Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s future.

The 53-year-old has been linked with the manager role at the German national side in recent weeks, and the news that Joachim Löw is to leave following this summer’s European Championships tournament has only added fuel to the fire.

Liverpool have lost their last six home games in the Premier League after losing to relegation-battling Fulham on Sunday.

Speaking about the Reds’ recent struggles in the Premier League, Jones had this to say on the future of their boss.

He said: “I think Liverpool will be quietly confident that they can keep Klopp, purely for the fact that he’s a very loyal man and he always sees through his contracts – before now, anyway.

“I think his contract’s up in 2024 – I will be surprised if he stays that long, but let’s see if he decides to stay for now.”

Liverpool have now slumped to eighth place in the Premier League and a huge seven points behind Chelsea in fourth, however, they have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ Klopp comments…

A lot of the speculation surrounding Klopp has come on the backdrop of their recent results. However, we must remember the years of hard work which he has put in to develop Liverpool into the team they are now.

Injuries have played a huge role in their season’s downfall, and it will be a struggle for them to make the top four given their recent form, but if they somehow do manage to get back into the Champions League positions, it will make for an incredible season given the circumstances.

And who knows, perhaps that would provide Klopp with enough motivation to continue at Anfield.
