Liverpool journalist Paul Gorst has been sharing some details on the latest update concerning Reds defender and his future at the Merseyside club.

This comes after Gorst made an appearance on a recent episode of the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast where he spoke about a variety of subjects concerning Jurgen Klopp’s side.

First up in this Mo Salah quiz, what is his current squad number for Liverpool?

On the subject of Davies and his current situation at the club and what his future could hold with the summer transfer window on the way, Gorst had this to say on the matter. (14.47)

He said: “The only time I can see Ben Davis getting a game now realistically, is when Liverpool have got a big Champions League game coming up in the week and they’re out of the running for the top four so, Klopp looks to rotate and rest.

“Then if he gets a few games under his belt then his value will naturally rise and then Liverpool could potentially look to offload him in the summer but that I suppose is all speculation at this point.

“Klopp has just insisted that Ben Davies just needs to carry on training and learning the ropes and he will get his chance at some point.

“It’s been nearly three months since he was brought in and he still hasn’t had a kick so it’s a very interesting deal that one.”

Liverpool signed Davies during the latter stages of the previous window from club Preston North End in a deal worth a reported fee of £1.67 million.

TIF Thoughts on Paul Gorst’s comments on Davies and his future with Liverpool…

As Gorst mentioned in the podcast, the 25-year-old, who is currently valued at £2.7 million, has yet to make an appearance for the Reds since his arrival, it does feel like he is in a very odd position at the moment in our view.

Would you be disappointed if Liverpool sold Davies this summer?

No

If Liverpool do decide to sell Davies in the summer and manage to make a profit on him, then while that would be a good business move for them, it probably wouldn’t have been too beneficial for Davies and his career.
