Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has had his display for England slammed by a number of football fans on social media.
England ran out comfortable 5-0 winners against San Marino at Wembley, with Phillips playing the entirety of the 90 minutes, protecting the back four and dictating play, managing to complete 91% of his passes in the process. Beyond that, as his touch map showed (via @England) he was popping up all over the place, and even managed to make two key passes as he racked up a WhoScored rating of 7.78/10.
However, it seems as if not everyone online was pleased with his performance against the minnows, as they responded to the tweet about his touch map with plenty of criticism, with many suggesting that he isn’t good enough to play for England and shouldn’t do so again:
“Dislike this man with every bone on my body. Southgate was pressured into picking him by the media obviously not good enough.”
Do you consider Kalvin Phillips to be a Leeds legend?
Yes
No
Phillips hasn’t exactly received a ringing endorsement from these fans, so let’s see if Gareth Southgate pays any attention when he gets ready to pick his next side.
