Many Leeds United fans have been discussing Phil Hay’s recent tweet about Pablo Hernandez.

The Athletic’s Leeds United journalist Hay recently relayed a tweet from the club’s official account. The original tweet had a video of Leeds beating Millwall 3-2 at Elland Road exactly two years ago. Captioning his tweet, Hay said that the video showed ‘Hernandez at his peak’.

Hernandez had scored twice in that game, helping the Whites complete a come-from-behind win in the Championship.

Now 35, Hernandez had joined Leeds initially on a loan deal from Qatari club Al-Arabi. He made the permanent switch to Elland Road in January 2017, as the Spaniard arrived at the club on a free transfer (as per Transfermarkt).

Leeds have had some odd players over the last ten years but how well do you remember them. Starting with the most recent one, who is this?

In the Championship for Leeds, Hernandez has made 151 appearances for the club and he even scored 34 goals, picking up 38 assists.

“Incredible how many times Pablo dragged us through games really the last few years. We really do need a lasting tribute to him when he leaves.

Some of these Leeds fans are hailing Hernandez, while some of them want to see him play for their side again.

The Spaniard has not been a regular under Marcelo Bielsa in the current campaign, playing just 332 minutes of Premier League football. He has also sustained a fair share of injuries and he isn’t getting any younger with every passing day.

Considering his reducing influence in the side and that his contract runs out in the summer, perhaps it would be best for Leeds to part ways with Hernandez – though it is clear the fans feel his service to the club deserves more recognition.
