Leeds United fans have been reacting to comments made by TalkSPORT host Adrian Durham about VAR following their game against West Ham United.

Leeds United were denied an early goal by the technology when Helder Costa was adjudged to have let his knee lean offside in the buildup to Tyler Roberts’ finish. It was certainly a very marginal decision, and speaking on TalkSPORT Drive (as per by MOTLeedsNews), Durham was apoplectic in his views on the matter.

He said: “I can’t for the life of me work it out. ‘Great decision!’ the commentator said to the linesman for getting it right. He guessed and it wasn’t offside. It’s ridiculous. I don’t know why football is putting up with it.”

“There’s no clear part of Costa that’s offside, when they do the stills, when they draw the lines… There’s nothing clearly smacking you in the face to say that’s offside.

“So it has to be a guess. If it’s clear, then flag. if there are any doubts, don’t raise your flag, that’s how I see it.

“So, because he raised the flag, they felt they had to give it offside and they drew those lines in such a way that it looked offside – when it wasn’t.”

His views were relayed to fans on the Leeds Insider Facebook page, and there was a general consensus of agreement with Durham about the subject of VAR, with plenty voicing their displeasure at how the technology is used:

Given that Leeds went on to lose the game 2-0, you wonder what effect that goal might have had on the game, so there is perhaps some justification for the fans to feel angry over it.
