Leeds United fans have been reacting on Twitter after the club reportedly approached Massimiliano Allegri for talks regarding the manager’s position.

The former Juventus boss has been out of work since departing the Italian giants in the summer of 2019, after winning five consecutive Scudettos and four Italian Cups with the Old Lady.

Although current Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa remains a popular figure at Elland Road and recently stated how he wanted to stay with the Whites ‘for the rest of my life’, the Argentine’s future is far from clear.

Bielsa is on a one-year rolling deal, and his stint with the Leeds is the longest he’s ever stayed with a side: so it’s understandable why the club’s hierarchy are planning for the future.

According to a report in The Times (via MOT Leeds News), Leeds are unsure if Bielsa will sign a new deal, and if he doesn’t, then Allegri is top of their shortlist of replacements, something that hasn’t gone down too well with the supporters.

“not a fan of this”

@ChellisMusic

“Let’s not talk about life after Bielsa”

@horsfield_lee

“Sorry, can we not talk about life after Bielsa so disrespectful.”

@James_Rodgers1

“He’s great, but I don’t even want to think about Marcelo leaving”

@Richaarrd401

“hope that’s not anytime soon.”

@bxnsharp_

“Yeah, can we just not talk about any of this”

@bethgabriel_

“Wow – can’t argue with the ambition of the club”

@ronaallleeds

Bielsa is doing a magnificent job at Elland Road, and the fans clearly don’t want him to leave anytime soon, but when that day inevitably comes, Allegri wouldn’t be a bad option to fall back on.
