Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers has been sharing his thoughts on Everton’s current season so far ahead of their Premier League showdown against Burnley at Goodison Park.

This comes after Myers recently made an appearance on a recent episode of The Sky Sports Football Podcast where he spoke about a range of subjects concerning Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Nice easy one to start off with, who currently sits top of the table?

On the subject of how Everton have fared this season, Myers had this to say on the matter.

He said: “The big word I think that we all need to look at Everton is inconsistency.

“I think Ancelotti talked about Chelsea and where they are to where Everton are, and I think that the big difference is that these sides – what we would call the regular top-six sides – have consistency. They have periods where they don’t do well at times, but they then always come back and always have a consistent run.

“You look at some of the games, we’ve talked about them before, Newcastle and Fulham in particular, where things have dipped dramatically.

“You get a lot of Everton fans saying, ‘which Everton will turn up tonight,’ and that’s the key issue, I think here, and once they get that consistency, I think they can make a real challenge.”

Prior to their match against Sean Dyche’s side, Everton have won 14 league games, drawn four and lost nine so far this season, placing them in sixth place in the league table (per BBC Sport).

On Monday night, Everton travelled to Stamford Bridge to take on Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea side but ultimately left empty-handed after an own goal from Ben Godfrey and a Jorginho penalty gave all three points to the home side.

TIF Thoughts on Alan Myers’ comments on Everton’s inconsistency this season…

Given how Everton started the current season with four consecutive victories, followed by a draw and three defeats just demonstrates how inconsistent the Toffees have been at periods throughout this campaign.

In our view, if Everton can start a consistent run of positive results as they started the season out with, then this would put them in with a great chance of reaching a top-four place in the league table.
