Aston Villa journalist Ashley Preece has been sharing his praise for Villa defender Ezri Konsa and his season with the Birmingham club so far.

This comes after Preece made an appearance on a recent episode of the Birmingham Mail’s Claret & Blue Podcast where he spoke about a number of topics concerning Dean Smith’s side.

On the subject of Konsa and how he has fared so far this season, Preece had this to say about the defender.

He said: “I love him. I love everything about him.

“He could play in his slippers and dressing gown he makes it look so easy. [Gareth] Southgate missed a trick with him; hopefully, he’s on the plane to the Euros, he’s got to be.

“He’s got [Tyrone] Mings out of jail countless times this season. Incredible talent, to be honest, £12 million, what a deal that is.”

Villa signed Konsa during the 2019 summer transfer window from Championship side Brentford for a fee of £11.97 million as Preece mentioned in the podcast.

Since his arrival at Villa Park, the 23-year-old, who is currently valued at £16.2 million, has made 58 appearances for the Villans across all competitions in which he has managed to score four goals for the team and provide two assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Ashley Preece’s comments on Konsa and his season with Villa so far…

Given how the defender has already managed to earn himself a higher overall season rating this year of 6.82/10 for his performances in the Premier League than he managed to get throughout the entirety of last season (6.47/10), this just goes to show how much Konsa has improved his game on the pitch since last season and why has this praise for him.

Do you think Konsa should be selected in England's squad for the Euros?

Also, with Konsa being recently linked with a summer move to the likes of fellow Premier League clubs Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, this shows that his efforts with Villa this season have caught the attention of these clubs, potentially leaving Dean Smith’s side with a fight to keep hold of him.
