Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on the latest episode of the Here We Go podcast, claiming Arsenal are tracking Brighton full-back Tariq Lamptey.

The Chelsea academy graduate only made the move to the south coast club in January 2020, but the diminutive defender has made a big impression in his short time with the Seagulls.

His impressive form has earned Lamptey his first England Under-21 cap and has seen him continually linked with a move away from the Amex Stadium for sides with European aspirations.

The latest club to be linked with the 20-year-old is Mikel Arteta’s Gunners, who are reportedly on the lookout for a new right-back, with Hector Bellerin possibly on his way out.

Romano has confirmed that speculation and revealed the north London outfit are not the only interested party.

He said: “We always say keep an eye on this player, because he extended the contract because it’s December, it’s something different by the salary side, but for sure, next summer can happen something big for him. Arsenal are looking at him as a possible option at right-back.

“So keep an eye on Arsenal, because they are among the clubs interested in Lamptey; there is still nothing advanced, there is still nothing signed or something like this. So nothing serious yet, but they are looking at him.

“He’s on the list; he’s considered an interesting player. So Arsenal will decide the future, in the coming months, they will plan like in April, in May – and not in March – for next summer.

“But, they are looking at players, interesting players, good opportunities – and Lamptey, for sure, is on the list, not only for Arsenal because other clubs are interested; English clubs, and not only, so keep an eye on Lamptey because he’s so appreciated.”

TIF Thoughts on Lamptey…

Lamptey is part of an exciting batch of English right-backs breaking through right now and appears to have a big future ahead of him.

The Brighton defender may have only made 20 Premier League appearances throughout his career, but the youngster has certainly left a big impression.

Arsenal are in the midst of a rebuild under Arteta, and Lamptey could be the next piece of the puzzle.
