West Bromwich Albion journalist and podcaster Adrian Goldberg has been sharing his thoughts on Baggies attacker Matheus Pereira and his recent run of form for Sam Allardyce’s side, including his efforts during their recent 0-0 draw against Newcastle United in the Premier League.

This comes after Goldberg recently co-hosted the latest episode of West Brom-themed podcast The Liquidator where he spoke about a range of topics concerning the club.

Nice easy one to start off with, who currently sits top of the table?

On the subject of Pereira, who played throughout the entire game at the Hawthorns over the weekend, Goldberg had this to say about the Brazilian. (13.33)

He said: “Pereira has looked out of sorts in recent weeks.

“Sometimes he’s dallied too long on the ball, sometimes he has been, as some of his critics suggest, looked like he’s doing the showboating thing as if to get a move, I don’t really think that’s what’s going on, but I think he has sometimes over-complicated his play and in the game against Newcastle, some of his basic passing was just poor and his decision making.”

West Brom signed Pereira on a permanent deal during the previous summer transfer window from Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon for a fee of £7.43 million after he had spent the previous season on loan with the Baggies.

Overall, the 24-year-old, who is currently valued at £11.7 million, has made 68 appearances for West Brom in which he has managed to score 14 goals and provide 23 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Adrian Goldberg’s comments on Pereira and his recent form…

With Pereira not having managed to score a goal or provide an assist for any of his teammates in the Premier League since January, this shows why Goldberg thinks the West Brom man has been out of sorts in recent weeks.

Do you think Pereira has been out of form in recent weeks?

No

In our view, the fact that he hasn’t been fairly active in front of goal for a while could mean his confidence is down at the minute which has led to these comments being shared by Goldberg. If Pereira can manage to score or provide an assist for West Brom soon, this could give him the boost he may need to continue through the remainder of this season with the Baggies.
