Leeds United fans have been reacting to some comments made by Noel Whelan about potentially signing Liverpool forward Divock Origi.

A recent report from Football Insider has claimed that Jürgen Klopp’s men might be willing to let the 25-year-old Belgian international leave this summer for as little as £12m, and speaking to the same publication, former Leeds man Whelan thinks that the Whites should be one of the clubs willing to make an offer for him.

He said: “I think we’ve got to keep our options open. Divock Origi for £12-15m, would you turn your nose up at that? No, you wouldn’t.

“We need options, especially attacking ones. We know [Marcelo] Bielsa likes players who can be versatile and we know Origi is that. Like a potential [Jack] Harrison deal, it’s not much of a risk. You’re not breaking the bank and you know what you’re getting. He knows the Premier League.”

However, when his comments were relayed to Leeds supporters via the Leeds Insider Facebook page, there didn’t seem to be too much support for his comments, as they turned their noses up at the idea of signing him:

Would you like Leeds to sign Origi?

YES

YES

NO

NO

Despite the Leeds fans being against the idea of signing Origi, £12m for someone with Premier League and Champions League experience arguably seems like a pretty decent coup if they were to pull it off, so it’s strange to see this level of animosity over the deal already.
