Having left Leeds for Oldham on a season-long loan deal last September, McCalmont has highly impressed over his 31 League Two appearances for Keith Curle’s side, scoring eight goals and providing two assists thus far for the Latics.
The 21-year-old once again impressed in his most recent outing for Oldham, as despite his side ultimately losing the fixture against Leyton Orient 2-1, the Leeds loanee scored a remarkable curling effort from the edge of the box, as well as very nearly setting up the equaliser in the dying moments of the fixture.
And after journalist Adam Millington shared footage of McCalmont’s spectacular strike on Twitter, fans of Leeds flocked to have their say on the matter, with many heaping a considerable amount of praise on the 21-year-old.
Do you think McCalmont is ready for first-team football at Leeds?
So, what exactly did these Leeds United fans have to say in reaction to the footage of Alfie McCalmont?
“Finish is that.”
“Not bad for a CDM lol.”
“Alfie is on fire!”
“Big future for this lad.”
“Another cracking goal by our very own Alfie McCalmont, the lad is on fire. 8th of the season.”
“Eighth goal of the season for Alfie McCalmont on loan at Oldham – and his third in four games. Brilliant strike, well done.”
“Well, Alfie McCalmont is at it again.”
“SUPER ALFIE. What a player!”
All in all, it would appear as if these Leeds United fans are delighted with the progress McCalmont seems to be making while out on loan at Oldham, and considering the midfielder’s return of goals and assists so far this season, it is not difficult to understand why.
