Lee Hendrie, speaking to Football FanCast about Divock Origi, has revealed that he doesn’t want Aston Villa to sign the Liverpool striker.

First up in this Gareth Barry quiz, which club did Villa sign the midfielder from?

The Belgian has until the summer of 2024 left on his contract and has been linked with a move to Villa Park.

However, Sky Sports pundit Hendrie didn’t seem keen on the idea of Origi joining Villa.

He said:

“Definitely not for me, not at all.

“I’ve obviously watched a lot of Liverpool over past seasons, and, you know, he’s been brilliant when he’s been introduced.

“We’ve seen him in the Champions League make a big impact, but he hasn’t played enough minutes, for me. It’d be half taking a gamble.

“I’m not saying he’s not worth taking a gamble, but he’s not the sort of player that I think would fit the bill for Villa.

“Not for me, and I certainly wouldn’t even recommend to the club that they bought Origi – he’s not my sort of player.”

Do you agree with Hendrie?

TIF Thoughts on Origi…

The Belgian is still only 25, but he has been limited to just two league starts and three Champions League starts this season, and the Reds were thought to have been willing to let him go in the past.

However, Aston Villa have Ollie Watkins, who they spent a lot of money on, as their number-one striker, and we can’t see why Villa would want to replace Watkins with Origi.

Origi has 29 caps for Belgium and has scored 35 goals for Liverpool in 157 appearances, but it is clear that Hendrie doesn’t think he is the man to help Villa, and with Wesley returning from injury, we don’t think they would need to sign Origi either.
