Celtic podcaster Hamish Carton has recently made a claim about Ryan Christie’s future at Parkhead.

Carton was recently hosting the latest episode of 67HailHail YouTube channel and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Bhoys. One player that he discussed was the club’s midfielder Ryan Christie. Carton made it clear that he finds Christie’s situation ‘frustrating’ and if he does leave in the summer, he won’t be too disappointed.

Is Ryan Christie irreplaceable?

Christie had arrived at Parkhead from Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the summer of 2015. He had previously spent a loan stint at Aberdeen too. The Scotsman, though, has previously been linked with a move to Burnley, who have been following him since his time at Inverness. French club Nice were also linked with a January move for him.

Carton believes that Christie would leave a number of Celtic players who haven’t been coached properly by Neil Lennon.

He said: “I just find the whole Christie thing quite frustrating. I’ve spoken about this before – if he moved on in the summer, I’d say thank you and I’d be happy to move on ourselves and replace him. But I think there are a lot of players in that team that are good players but they’re just not being coached.”

TIF Thoughts on Ryan Christie…

Christie has been an important player in the current campaign, having directly contributed to 18 goals in all competitions this season. In the 2019/20 season, he scored 20 goals and picked up 16 assists in all competitions, which shows how vital he can be for the Bhoys.

However, his contract at Parkhead runs out in the summer of 2022 and there are clearly clubs interested in him. If he doesn’t sign a new deal, Celtic could risk losing him for free next year and in that case, the Hoops might have to sell him this summer if they want to earn some fee from his sale. Considering his goal contributions, he would be a big loss for the Bhoys.
