Former Celtic player Kelvin Wilson has recently talked about whether Celtic should move for Fraser Forster and if the Englishman would like a move back to Parkhead.

Wilson appeared as a guest on the latest episode of the Celtic Huddle podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Bhoys. One topic of discussion was potential transfer targets and goalkeeper targets for Neil Lennon’s side. They talked about a Parkhead return for Forster and he believes that the Englishman loves living in Glasgow.

Forster was at Celtic in the 2019/20 season but he had then returned to Southampton at the end of the campaign. Celtic had tried to sign him in the summer of 2020 but the goalkeeper decided to stay at Southampton.

Wilson revealed details of the time when Forster was at Celtic many years ago to suggest that he does love living in Glasgow.

Wilson talked about Forster and revealed details about the goalkeeper and said (14:59): “With Fraser, the calmness he gives you in playing behind you, you’re confident in your goalkeeper. He’s the best goalkeeper I’ve played with, so I’m going to praise him to the moon and back. He was brilliant. That would be a great shout for me. He’s got a year left on his contract. If Southampton are going to want to keep him, I’m sure they’re going to renew it. If they’re not, they might try to let him go in the summer. Celtic have got one of the best chance of getting Fraser. Fraser absolutely loves Glasgow.

“When I was up there with him, a lot of the lads that were from down south would go back to our families and see all the other families but Fraser would always stay in Glasgow. When he came back again, that proved his point that he loved Glasgow because he came back. I don’t know his personal position on it but if there’s an option for him to come back, I’m more than sure he would. He’s had three spells. If that’s an option, that should be their first on the list.”

TIF Thoughts on Fraser Forster…

Forster had been a regular for Celtic in the 2019/20 season, making 39 appearances in all competitions for the club and keeping 17 clean sheets as well.

He had saved a penalty in the League Cup final against Rangers and he had impressed against Serie A giants Lazio in the Europa League. The Englishman also saved a penalty against Copenhagen in the Round of 32 of the Europa League.

This shows that Forster came up with impressive performances in big games and it shows his value as a goalkeeper. So if the chances comes, Celtic should certainly look to bring him back in the summer.
