Celtic fans have been reacting to the news that they could be set to miss out on one of their transfer targets.
According to a report in The Athletic, Liverpool are set to sign Preston North End defender Ben Davies as they try their best to overcome their current crisis in the centre of the defence in a deal worth £1.6m.
A report from Sky Sports claimed a few days ago suggested he could be on his way north of the border this summer having signed a pre-contract agreement, but it looks as if those plans might have to change now that he’s on his way to Merseyside. Reporter Anthony Joseph took to Twitter to explain the error in the report, saying that it was incorrectly worded, claiming that terms were merely agreed on rather than signed and therefore not official.
This news did not go down well with the Celtic supporters on social media, who used the failure to get the move completed as just another example of how badly run the club have been this season:
“This season man”
Do Celtic need a major rebuild?
YES
NO
The question now is how much is that going to change their summer window plans, and whether or not they need to start looking for other options before too long.
